Spring Break

To my neighbours in Blogsville,

You may have noticed that I have been a little silent recently. School and life have been hectic. Normally I would have written posts on the recent public attack on teachers for being lazy. But I haven't been able to find the time or the head space. And I do feel as if I am somehow 'letting the side down' in Blogsville.

My current 'busier than usual situation' will continue for a couple of months. And so, it is with regret that I say that Snuffy is going to hibernate for that time.

Snuffy isn't dead. She is merely sleeping. So pop in from time to time, to take a look. Maybe Snuffy will leave the occasional post in her absence. Certainly she will return to normal in due course.

In the meantime, I wish you all a very happy Spring. (I do hope Spring will come.) And I look forward to chatting with you all when the weather is warmer.

With my very best wishes,

Snuffy x

Perhaps keeping a diary of your stories would be good. You could post them later!

I love hearing the tales of your kids! They make me smile (and very little does these days).

I didn't mean that in a bad way, by the way (especially with the woeful posts).

I love the way you know your kids and the insight that you have in them.

I'll miss your posts. And I hope the hectic nature of life is a positive, rather than a negative thing.

Hope to see you back in the not-too-distant future...

Never feel obliged to post, otherwise your writing will suffer. They good thing about a blog is that you can write about whatever you want, whenever you want.

I'm missing your posts too, Snuffy.

But you shouldn't feel you're letting the side down.

Unlike work or study committments, I don't think this is something you should feel is a duty. If it does feel like that, time to take a break.

Will miss your posts.

Here's something that may make you want to do another;

Dear Snuffy, My first comment on your blog, but I wanted to thank you before you go on your break. While sometimes the stories are a little hair-raising :-), you've filled me with hope and love - and provided much inspiration just as I'm about to start my teacher training.

Enjoy your break!

Okay, have a break withoput worryin g about us and the comments we have made in this thread :-)

Oh, and by the way: as a teacher you should know that you can't be "a little silent" — either you are silent or you aren't(!) It's like 'unique' — it's an absolute.

Y'see: even those of us who went to Secondary Modern Skools know a few things…

It seems that blaming teachers for below average student success is taken to even greater extremes in some places:

I think the groom has a wedgie, but it's hard to tell. The expression on his face is so blank and nondescript.

Gosh, I get a new PC, take ages to get my blog out of mothballs and find that you're having a break and I can't go back and read the archives. Hope you're ok. Having taken an 8 month unplanned blog break, I do feel better for some time away.

Take care

Nic

Heh;

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7995869.stm

A recruitment agency, Aspire People, advertised vacancies for "Hard Core Cover Supervisors".

"You might be an ex-marine, prison officer, bouncer, policeman, fireman, sportsman, actor or you might be an overseas teacher looking to get some experience in the classroom.

"Which ever it is we need someone who thinks they can get involved in a school environment and control the kids in schools throughout the midlands."

Snuffy, I hope all is well and that your rest from blogging is as you expected. One question, where is your archive? One plea, come back Snuffy, the blogosphere needs you.
